Bluepoint Cambridge installs its first Komori Lithrone S29
Bluepoint Cambridge has installed its first Komori press, a fully automated Lithrone S529 with coater, part of a £1 million investment programme.
Says MD Jim Gilmour: "Having analysed our productivity, we decided that, in order to replace two B2 Heidelberg Speedmasters with a single press, we needed to find a new machine with as much automation and latest technology as possible. Komori came up with the perfect fully automated specification at the right time, and at the right price."
Operations Director, David Arnold enthuses:" With the Lithrone's latest automation and the KHS-AI fast start up system, printing is so fast that the slowest thing about the Komori is loading paper into the feeder! We're experiencing massive savings with the S529's five minute make-readies, and waste down to around just 40 sheets per job and a regular printing speed of 15,000 an hour even on stock up to 0.8mm thickness, the new press, gives us flexibility to print short and long runs and integrate covers and occasional carton printing into our production schedule with ease."
